Teacher Guide: Time Required
Learning Context | Procedure| Instructional Modifications |
Time Required| Resources | Assessment Plan |Planning
The materials for the project are all on the web site. Most of the planning time is involved in becoming familiar with materials, reserving time in computer lab and/or printing materials for students to use on paper. Approximately one to two hours of preparation are required depending on the teachers previous knowledge of the subject. It is a good idea to schedule time in the library and computer facilities for student research and group project work for the Lesson 4 presentation.
Implementation (Based on a 40-50 minute period, 5 days a week)
Note: Time spent on each lesson can be reduces by assigning the review of Lesson 1 content and Lesson 3 content for homework. In this case, students may need access to printed resources if they do not have easy access to an Internet connection. The class can process the activities together during in-class discussions.Assessment
- One-two class periods to discuss Lesson 1 content
- One-two class periods to work in groups and discuss Lesson 2 recommendations and maps.
- One class period to conduct and judge results of online simulation in Lesson 3
- Three weeks for students to work on the projects on their own time from Lesson 4.
- One class period for presentation of the projects.
- One or two class periods for teacher assessment.
- Two hours per class to grade projects and enter grades.
