Who Makes the Redistricting Recommendations in New York State for 2002?

The NYS Joint Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment makes redistricting recommendations for the State Legislature and for the U.S. House of Representatives. The NYS Senate is controlled by the Republicans and the NYS Assembly is controlled by the Democrats. The Republican Governor has veto power over the plans. The Task Force is composed of six individuals appointed by the New York State Senate and Assembly leadership.
