Friday, September 29 at 1 p.m. – Backstage Pass with Kenneth Grant

(Rochester, NY)On the next Backstage Pass, airing Friday, September 29 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5/90.3, host Julia Figueras talks with Kenneth Grant, Principal Clarinetist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and an associate professor of clarinet at the Eastman School of Music. The live broadcast becomes a family affair when Mr. Grant is joined by his daughter Lindsey Grant, a soprano who graduated from Eastman School of Music and is currently working on her certification for teaching at Nazareth College, to perform Shepherd on the Rock and other musical selections. Accompanying the two artists is pianist Joseph Werner, who is a member for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and serves as the orchestra's Personnel Manager.

A Buffalo native, Kenneth Grant received his education at the Eastman School of Music. He joined the RPO in 1987 as Principal Clarinetist after almost 15 years in the same position with the Columbus Symphony. In 1990, Mr. Grant toured Europe with the Cleveland Orchestra as Assistant Principal Clarinetist. In 1994, he won critical acclaim in Japan as a soloist with the Eastman Wind Ensemble on the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. In addition to performing, Mr. Grant is Associate Professor of Clarinet at the Eastman School of Music.

Backtage Pass, a live, radio program broadcast from WXXI's Studio E, is dedicated to spotlighting the arts in Rochester and is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation.
