Tuesday, January 31 at 1 p.m. – Backstage Pass with Imani Winds
(Rochester, NY) – Backstage Pass host Julia Figueras welcomes North America's premier wind quintet, Imani Winds, in studio on Tuesday, January 31 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1. The chamber music ensembles will perform and talk with Figueras about their music and plans for the future.
Since 1997, the Grammy nominated quintet has taken a unique path, carving out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, genre-blurring collaborations, and inspirational outreach programs. With two member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions.
Backstage Pass is a live, hour-long radio series that is committed to highlighting performing artists – giving Classical 91.5/90.3/FM-HD 91.5-1 listeners the opportunity to hear local and visiting musicians performing live. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation.
