JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Education and Multimedia Producer / Editor
Department: Television
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Reports To: Executive Producer, Television
Responsibilities:
Develop, produce, and / or edit web-based and broadcast-based services for WXXI educational programs. Oversee and participate in the operations of WXXI’s educational productions, including Homework Hotline.org and Homework Hotline. Develop, produce, and / or edit additional programs that assist WXXI in meeting its goal of serving the needs of the Rochester region.
Online:
- Produce Website content and video content for Homework-Hotline.org.
- Responsible for providing expertise in Web standards, in Web and digital media software, and in Web/Flash-based scripting.
- Collaborate with WXXI education department to implement information and interaction architecture and promote Web and video usability.
- Analyze audience and user data. Generate and analyze feedback to inform design and content decisions
- Work with WXXI education department and community partners to create lesson plans, teacher and parent resources and program-related Web content.
- Edit and repurpose video and audio for multi-platform distribution of television content.
Television:
- Coordinate all aspects of the television production Homework Hotline.
- Supervise production staff, teacher hosts and outside vendors to complete productions; produce professional quality television programs; coordinate the production of videos for marketing, promotion, and academic purposes.
- Engage in all aspects of video pre-production and post-production processes including educational content planning, shooting, writing and editing.
- Integrate educational standards and lesson plans into production of all educational programs. Serve as liaison with WXXI education and interactive services department and with other educational institutions
- Implement statewide distribution and station relations for Homework Hotline.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with stations carrying WXXI educational programs.
- Assist in production of or produce other WXXI television department programs.
- On-demand delivery on all of our appropriate programs into Time Warner’s on-demand channels, on YouTube and into social media tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements: B.A. in Communications or equivalent experience. Degree or coursework in K-12 education preferred.
Experience Requirements: Five years television experience. Experience in educational environment strongly preferred. Experience creating media for on-demand or Internet. Demonstrated experience editing on digital editing systems such as AVID or Final Cut Pro. Management or supervisory experience preferred. Experience working in a team environment, ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
