About WXXI Services
Mission:
WXXI is the essential, life-long educational media resource for the Greater Rochester area. WXXI puts the community first with programming that stimulates and expands thought, inspires the spirit, opens cultural horizons and promotes understanding of diverse community issues.

WXXI will be the trusted community media partner and the best public broadcaster in the nation in terms of strengthening its community.
Our current services include:
WXXI-TV 21, a PBS member station, features award-winning children's shows, public affairs, science, and nature as well as being one of the most active local program producers in New York State.
Digital Television – WXXI entered the digital era in September of 2003 when WXXI-DT signed on with Rochester’s first full-power digital television signal.
WXXI-DTV includes:
WXXI-HD (DTV 21.1/Cable 1011), a full-time High Definition (HDTV) channel
PBS World (DTV 21.2/Cable 524), features documentary, public affairs and news programming from public television’s award-winning signature series and acclaimed independent filmmakers.
Create/ThinkBright (DTV 21.3/Cable 433), a digital channel that carries two program streams: Create, airing from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., showcases the best cooking, travel, fine living and how-to programming public television has to offer. ThinkBright, broadcasting from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., is a statewide, education-based channel that airs two hours of commercial-free children’s programming daily at 6 p.m., and hosts thematic programming each day beginning at 8 p.m. Theme nights are as follows:

Tuesdays – Arts & Performance Nights
Wednesday – History & Biography Nights
Thursdays – Heritage & Diversity Nights
Fridays – Think Globally Nights
Saturdays – Science & Nature NightsWXXI-TV (DTV 21.4/Cable 11), a digital version of our WXXI-TV 21 programming.
Datacasting – Digital television allows for datacasting that provides additional data within our digital signal, which may have a large impact on Homeland Security.
WXXI-On Demand –Watch favorite WXXI documentaries and programs through the Rochester OnDemand service on Time Warner Digital Cable 111. Select WXXI from Rochester OnDemand menu to watch selected WXXI programs when at your convenience..
City 12 – WXXI-TV and the City of Rochester provide city residents with 14 hours a day of targeted, informative and entertaining programming.
Community Rochester: WXXI partners with not-for-profits in the community to fund unique community-based informational programs and broadcast them in the Community Rochester block on WXXI-TV and WXXI-Q. Programming includes: lectures, how-tos, and informational specials.
AM 1370, an NPR member station, specializes in news and public affairs programming, including community-based talk shows. (Also available as a live stream.)
FM Classical 91.5, broadcasts classical music all day, every day, plus specialty programs such as "A Prairie Home Companion," and "Fascinatin' Rhythm." (Also available as a live stream.)
FM Classical 90.3, broadcasts classical music and NPR programming, every day in Houghton, NY.
Reachout Radio is a radio reading service that provides direct, immediate and convenient access to printed materials for thousands with visual impairment.
WRUR-FM 88.5 – WXXI and the University of Rochester to provide NPR news and eclectic music programming. (Also available as a live stream.)
WXXI-HD Radio includes:
FM HD 91.5-1, broadcasts classical music programming heard on FM Classical 91.5 with the highest definition of sound.
FM HD 91.5-2, broadcasts news and information programming heard on AM 1370. Digital radio offers a dramatically higher quality audio and is not subject to seasonal pattern changes like AM radio, so the reception is greater.
FM HD 91.5-3, airs talk radio and news programs from National Public Radio and Public Radio International not heard on WXXI’s current radio stations.
WXXI Listen Live/Podcast On-Demand: Listen to our radio services live streamed over the Internet or on your computer or IPOD/MP3 players on-demand.
WXXI Production Services: WXXI provides client production services from uplinks to video and audio production services.
Community Outreach and Education:
Education & Interactive Services: delivers education and information to the community through instructional programming, Ready To Learn, GED Connections, EdVideo Online, college telecourses, outreach initiatives and local educational productions. Professional development offerings for teachers includes Online Courses from PBS Teacherline New York and from the WXXI, Mid-West Regional Adult Education Network.
Events: WXXI provides a wide range of outreach and community lifelong learning events from: Speaking of Women's Health, to the Voices Lecture series, to special previews and member events.
WXXI Online is our award-winning web site, featuring WXXI's broadcast schedules, streaming media and resource areas for education, arts, news and events.
WXXI Program Guide: Station Signals is our monthly program member guide, featuring WXXI's broadcast schedules, special events and other articles about our programs and outreach.
